Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has responded to criticism after he ordered a couple to be removed from his Denver concert for allegedly sleeping during his performance.

The incident drew widespread backlash, especially after the woman involved said the experience left her emotionally affected.

Speaking about the controversy during a recent livestream, Burna Boy dismissed the outrage, insisting he never asked anyone to be his fan and openly stating that he prioritizes supporters with money.

“Did I tell you all to be my fans? Right now, I’m only interested in fans who have money,” he said.

His comments have triggered renewed debate over his attitude toward fans—the very group that fuels his global success—with some social media users suggesting he should be “canceled.”

This is not the first time the singer has faced criticism for his interactions with fans. In a previous incident, he kicked a starstruck male fan who ran onstage to hug him during a performance. On another occasion, he ordered a concertgoer to leave for not dancing.

Burna Boy has never issued an apology for any of these incidents.
