Police Arrest Popular TikToker Peller Over Reckless Driving
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular TikToker, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following the circulation of a viral video showing him driving recklessly during a live broadcast, an action that resulted in a road crash.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest followed widespread public outrage over the incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The police described the influencer’s actions as highly dangerous, noting that his conduct posed a serious threat to his life and that of other road users, necessitating immediate intervention to prevent further harm.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained Habeeb Hamzat, also known as ‘Peller,’ for further investigation following a viral video that emerged on Sunday, December 14, 2025. In the video, the suspect was seen driving recklessly, leading to a dangerous crash during a live-streamed broadcast, thereby endangering his life and the lives of other road users,” the statement said.
The command emphasized that the behaviour was grossly irresponsible and could have resulted in loss of life, either for the suspect or innocent motorists and pedestrians.
The police further stated that such conduct amounted to a deliberate endangerment of life and posed serious risks to public safety.
Authorities confirmed that the case file has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation.
“The matter is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the outcome will be made public and the suspect will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The police also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, used the occasion to warn social media influencers, content creators, and the general public against abusing digital platforms to promote reckless, dangerous, or unlawful activities.
He stressed that such actions would attract severe legal consequences, reiterating the command’s commitment to impartial enforcement of the law.
“Such lawlessness will not be tolerated. The full weight of the law will be applied to offenders. The Command also urges all road users to strictly obey traffic regulations and remains committed to safeguarding public peace and safety at all times,” the statement concluded.
