62 Kidnap Victims Freed Following NAF Airstrike on Bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Government has confirmed the dramatic escape of 62 kidnapped victims following a Nigerian Air Force airstrike on the camp of notorious bandit Muhammadu Fulani in Jigawa Sawai, Danmusa Local Government Area.

The airstrike, carried out Saturday evening, forced the bandits to flee, allowing the captives to escape in different directions.

Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said 12 of the escapees are receiving medical treatment at Matazu General Hospital, while 16 await assistance at the Army FOB in Kaiga Malamai.

Most victims were abducted during a night attack on Sayaya village on August 11, 2025, by Fulani’s gang, known for terrorizing areas of Katsina and Kano States.

The state has deployed the Nigerian Air Force Quick Response Wing to restore peace in Matazu and Bakori LGAs, and troops continue to monitor the area for further rescue efforts.

Mu’azu reassured families that rescued victims would be reunited with loved ones after medical checks.
