The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has attributed the growing insecurity in Nigeria to the breakdown of traditional family values.

Speaking on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the 2025 edition of ‘Exercise Haske Biyu’ at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, Kaduna, Musa emphasized the critical role of strong family systems in ensuring national security.

The military exercise focused on the role of family values, civic responsibility, and moral resilience in addressing the security challenges confronting Nigeria and other participating nations.

“The family is the foundation of every community. Without strong families, we cannot build strong communities,” Musa stated. “We’ve observed that as the family system weakens, insecurity worsens. Addressing family-related issues is key to reducing insecurity.”
