Gov Abdulrazaq Vows to Make Kwara Unsafe for Criminals and Kidnappers
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has declared that criminals and kidnappers will find no safe place within the state, NIGERIA NEWS 247 reports.
Speaking after a meeting of the State Security Council in Ilorin on Tuesday, Governor Abdulrazaq reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout Kwara.
The governor’s statement follows a recent brutal attack in Oke Ode, where armed bandits massacred 12 residents. In response, Governor Abdulrazaq promptly briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and renewed his request for increased federal security deployment to target criminal hideouts.
He revealed that the Army Headquarters has reassigned the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2nd Division to Ilorin to enhance security operations in the state.
“On Monday night, combined forces from the Army, DSS, and Police launched an offensive near Baba Sango, along the Kwara–Kogi border, neutralising approximately 15 armed bandits,” the governor stated.
“The operation continued into Tuesday, and last night, I chaired the State Security Council meeting at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, where we coordinated state and federal resources into a unified security strategy for both Kwara North and South.”
Governor Abdulrazaq assured residents that his administration will continue to fully support security agencies in their efforts to protect every community.
“I have received assurances from the security forces to flush out and eliminate criminals from their hideouts. We will combat insecurity with every resource available. Kwara will not be a refuge for criminals.
“To those who seek to destabilize peace in Kwara, you may run, but you cannot escape justice. Kwara belongs to its people, and their peace will be fiercely protected,” the governor added, according to a statement by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday in Ilorin.
