Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa State Information Ministry Permanent Secretary, Yusuf Musa

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information in Nasarawa State, Barrister Yusuf Musa, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident was confirmed by the Nasarawa State Police Command in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the police, the abduction occurred at Musa’s residence in Lafia. At approximately 3:05 a.m., officers from the B Division on patrol discovered a Peugeot pickup van parked with its doors wide open, raising suspicions. Upon further investigation, the gate to the Permanent Secretary’s residence was found ajar.

“A swift check of the property revealed that Barr. Yusuf Musa was missing, along with his GMC vehicle bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA, suggesting a likely abduction,” the statement said.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate tactical operation. All police divisions across the state—including Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko—were alerted, with surveillance deployed on key routes in a bid to intercept the suspects and secure the victim’s release.

The Commissioner emphasized the police command’s commitment to rescuing Barr. Musa safely and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
