Troops Rescue Two Abducted Nigerian Immigration Officers from Kidnappers in Benue State
Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have successfully rescued two kidnapped officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement released on Friday, September 26, 2025, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer at HQ JTF OPWS, confirmed the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the abduction of Officers David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence provided by appropriate authorities, troops conducted a coordinated search-and-rescue mission in Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village, both located in the Azendeshi Council Ward of Ukum LGA.
The mission led to the successful recovery of the kidnapped officers at Adamawa Village after the abductors fled the area. The victims are now in safe custody, receiving medical attention and undergoing debriefing.
Commending the troops, Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, praised their professionalism and rapid response, highlighting the operation as a testament to the task force’s commitment to citizen safety and regional stability.
He emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies. According to him, such collaboration is essential in combating criminal activities and securing farming communities to support food security efforts across Benue and neighboring states.
