he Adamawa State Government officially verified on Friday that 42 individuals have succumbed to a measles outbreak in the Mubi and Gombi local government areas of the state.
During a press briefing shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Yola, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame, relayed this information to journalists.
Tangwame disclosed that the measles outbreak had impacted eight wards in Mubi and seven wards in Gombi local government areas. The death toll stood at 42 out of 131 and 177 affected individuals in the respective local government areas.
He reassured the public that preventive measures had been swiftly implemented to contain any further spread of the outbreak. Tangwame emphasized the prompt response of the Ministry upon receiving the outbreak report, highlighting effective management strategies that had been put in place.
The commissioner underscored that the government, in collaboration with its partners, is actively addressing the situation and remains vigilant in monitoring and managing the outbreak.
