Addressing Hardship: Kebbi Govt Tackles Food Crisis with 210 Trucks of Fertilizer and Agricultural Inputs

In a concerted effort to address the food crisis affecting the country, particularly in the Northern Region, the Kebbi State government has procured 210 trucks of fertilizer to support farming this rainy season.

This initiative aims to alleviate food insufficiency and the general hardships faced by citizens.

Governor Nasir Idris announced this development in Birnin-Kebbi, the state capital, stating that the fertilizer would be distributed at no cost to 48,000 peasant farmers in rural areas.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the fertilizer, along with other agricultural inputs, would be delivered to local farmers in their respective villages and communities.

Governor Idris made this public during the launch of agricultural inputs by the State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, Kebbi State Cares Coordinating Unit. The exercise is under the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Fadama III Implementing Unit.

The governor emphasized his commitment to ensuring no farmer or group of farmers is left behind in their agricultural activities. According to the statement, 100 trucks of assorted fertilizer would be distributed to the people of the state for free, and another 110 trucks would be allocated to Local Government Areas at no charge.

The governor urged beneficiaries to use the inputs effectively for mass food production to achieve food sufficiency by the end of the rainy season.

The State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abba Sani-Kalgo, highlighted the importance of the program and commended the governor for his support and assistance to the ministry and the farmers.
