Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has affirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing the security of lives and property in the state.

He urged Deltans to continue praying for the government as it works to address the state’s challenges. Oborevwori emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of the people is the primary function of government.

The governor made these remarks during a meeting with the State Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), led by State Chairman Kingsley Enakhireri, at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday.

Oborevwori stated, “Regarding security, we are doing our utmost. Section 14(2b) of the 1999 Constitution mandates that the security and welfare of the people be the primary purpose of government, and we are committed to that. We want to assure Deltans that this phase will pass. Please continue to pray for us as we serve the people.”

He also thanked the PFN for its support during recent national protests, noting the state’s peaceful situation compared to the violence expected. “Thanks to the prayers and collective efforts, Delta State remains calm. People are going about their normal business, and we appreciate the role of faith leaders in maintaining peace.”

Oborevwori added that Civil Society Organizations and other groups have chosen not to protest this time, acknowledging the risk of hijacking and emphasizing that any credit should be given to God.
