#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Katsina Govt declares 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma LG
The Katsina State Police Command has initiated the implementation of a state government order that enforces a 24-hour curfew in the Dutsinma Local Government Area, alongside a movement restriction from 7 PM to 7 AM across the other 33 local government areas in the state.
According to a statement released by Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Public Relations Officer, this action was deemed necessary due to the escalation of violence linked to nationwide protests that started on Thursday.
He emphasized that the all-day curfew in Dutsinma is crucial for safeguarding public safety and preventing further outbreaks of violence, vandalism, and theft of both public and private properties.
Meanwhile, the nighttime curfew in other regions aims to deter criminal activities after dark and uphold law and order statewide.
Sadiq also noted that while there were no fatalities reported during Thursday’s protests, approximately 50 individuals were apprehended for their involvement in vandalizing and looting government assets.
Sadiq emphasized the importance of parents and guardians advising their children and dependents against participating in activities that could breach the law, such as violent demonstrations, vandalism, and theft of both public and private property.
He also encouraged young people to show restraint and not allow themselves to be manipulated into committing acts of violence.
The command, alongside other security forces, will be carrying out frequent patrols to ensure strict adherence to the curfew; anyone caught violating it will face serious consequences.
We request that the community support our security efforts by remaining indoors during curfew hours. Together, we can uphold peace and order in our state.
