Four Dead, Eight Injured in Abia Highway Accident
Tragedy struck early Saturday morning at Amorji community in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, as a fatal accident claimed four lives and left eight others seriously injured along the Enugu–Port Harcourt expressway.
The accident, which occurred around 5:00 a.m., involved a truck transporting goods to Umuahia. Reports suggest that the crash may have been caused by either brake failure or poor visibility.
Personnel from the Abia State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded swiftly after being alerted by residents, evacuating the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Abia State, Ngozi Ezeoma, said the truck was carrying 12 passengers—11 males and one female.
According to Ezeoma, four male passengers died on the spot, while the remaining eight (seven males and one female) sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
