Four Killed in Bayelsa Road Accident
Four Confirmed Dead in Bayelsa Road Crash Involving Speeding Toyota Sienna and Tricycle
Four people were confirmed dead after a speeding Toyota Sienna veered out of its lane and collided head-on with a tricycle at Famgbe 2 on the Yenagoa-Oporoma road in Bayelsa State.
According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota Sienna was headed towards Oporoma, while the tricycle was returning to Yenagoa when the accident occurred around 7:00 pm on Monday.
The victims included the tricycle driver and passengers, while none of the Sienna occupants sustained injuries.
The eyewitness suggested that heavy rainfall and poor visibility might have contributed to the accident, which occurred at a bend notorious for previous crashes.
Due to the rain and increasing darkness, emergency response from residents was delayed.
Bayelsa State enforces a ban on tricycle operations beyond 7:00 pm, but some tricycles continue to operate past the curfew, particularly outside the state capital, Yenagoa.
When contacted for comment, Bayelsa Police Command Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, stated he was not aware of the incident.
