Gang Clash in Osun: Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Weapons
Osun State Police Command parades suspected hoodlum, 22-year-old Damilola Olatunji, accused of involvement in a recent altercation among thugs in the Balogun Agoro Area of Osogbo, the state capital.
Speaking at the Command Headquarters in Osogbo, police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola disclosed that dangerous weapons were recovered from Olatunji upon his arrest.
“On 18/05/2024 at about 1430HRS, upon receiving information about a physical altercation along Balogun Agoro Junction Osogbo, a team of operatives from the Police Response Unit (PRU) acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect, Olatunji Damilola, A.K.A Damoshe,” she stated.
“Upon interrogation and investigation, he led police operatives to their arsenal where the following exhibits were recovered: 4 pump-action guns, three cut-to-size barrel guns, one locally made pistol, one jackknife, ten cutlasses, and thirty-three live cartridges of ammunition.”
Opalola assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the clashes, with plans to charge the suspect in court after the investigation.
She urged residents to provide prompt and credible information to the police, emphasizing the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to prevent crimes.
The clash, reportedly stemming from a dispute over booty distributed by a property owner around Gbaemu Area of Osogbo, resulted in the tragic death of a street beggar, whose identity remains unconfirmed.
