Gov Umo Eno Dissolves All Boards and Commissions in Akwa Ibom State
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially dissolved all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions across the state.
The announcement was made on Thursday in Uyo by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Enobong Uwah, who noted that the dissolution takes immediate effect. According to Uwah, the decision was made in line with the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law, 2023.
“The governor wishes members of the dissolved boards and commissions well in their future endeavours and commends them for their contributions towards advancing the goals of the ARISE Agenda,” Uwah said.
The SSG further directed that all chairpersons of the dissolved boards and commissions immediately hand over government property in their possession to the most senior officers within their respective agencies.
Governor Eno had previously hinted at the impending dissolution during a media briefing held to commemorate the state’s 37th anniversary in 2024. At the time, he acknowledged the efforts of commissioners and board members, indicating that the move would not come as a surprise to those who had served diligently.
He also mentioned plans to hold a valedictory session to formally appreciate their service and contributions to the state’s development.
