Governor Umo Eno Sacks Ibom Power CEO, Meyen Etukudoh
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dismissed Engr. Meyen Etukudoh as the Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), effective immediately. The decision was communicated through a statement signed by Prince Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the State Government, and released to the press in Uyo on Thursday evening.
The dismissal follows Etukudoh’s recent remarks regarding the statewide power outage that began on Wednesday, which he attributed to a dispute between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company. In his statement, Etukudoh had outlined that the ongoing disruption was a result of the disagreement over gas supply, which had led to the power outage across the state.
Governor Eno’s statement noted that the dismissal was part of the broader restructuring within the administration to align with the state’s power sector goals under the ARISE Agenda.
“As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector, Governor Umo Eno has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024,” the statement read.
Following the termination, Etukudoh has been instructed to hand over the management of the company to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will oversee the company’s operations until further notice.
Governor Eno expressed his gratitude to Etukudoh for his service to the state and wished him success in his future endeavors.
