Gunmen Kill Plateau Riders Bus Station Manager in Bayelsa

Gunmen have killed Alhaji Auwalu Aliyu, the manager of Plateau Riders bus station, in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Aliyu was reportedly shot and killed by suspected armed robbers during a robbery incident near the Bayelsa State Assembly complex on Imgbi Road in the Amarata area of Yenagoa.

It is reported that he was heading home to meet his wife when he was attacked and killed.

Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Alonyenu Idu, confirmed the incident on Thursday. He stated that an investigation is ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime, assuring that the family of the deceased will receive justice soon.

During a briefing in Yenagoa, the Commissioner noted that the nature of the killing is unusual for Bayelsa State.

“We suspect that the deceased was either stalked from Plateau to Bayelsa or his death is connected to a group of criminal elements currently assembling in Ogbia Local Government Area,” he said.

“We sympathize with the family of the deceased and are confident that justice will be served very soon,” added the police commissioner.
