The Concerned Patriotic Citizens Forum (CPCF) has criticized the Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for attributing the state’s security issues to Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

CPCF argues that the APC’s previous administration is responsible for the state’s current insecurity, deeming it unfair for them to blame and mock the victims while accusing the current governor.

In a statement released to NIGERIA NEWS 247 on Sunday, Comrade Moses Toro, President of CPCF, condemned the APC’s claims that Governor Lawal ignored the security crisis while allegedly celebrating at a PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in Enugu.

Toro emphasized that the roots of Zamfara’s insecurity trace back to the APC’s tenure, which saw the situation deteriorate significantly.

“The APC’s attempt to blame Governor Dauda Lawal for the severe security crisis in Zamfara State is utterly unfounded,” the statement declared.

“It is well-documented that insecurity in Zamfara began during the previous APC administration and worsened under their watch.”

Toro criticized the APC for claiming that Governor Lawal has done nothing while the security situation in Zamfara worsened under the APC’s previous leadership.

“The previous APC administration allowed Zamfara to deteriorate from one of the most peaceful states to the most terrorized in the North-West,” he said.

Reports from early 2022 showed that 327 people were killed in Zamfara during the APC’s tenure, with two local governments—Anka and Bukkuyum—being shut down due to insecurity.

“The APC’s attempts to deflect responsibility and mock the victims of this crisis are disgraceful,” Toro stated. “The party should reflect on its role in creating the current situation rather than playing politics with the plight of the people.”

CPCF urged the APC to take responsibility for the insecurity it created and cease politicizing the issues faced by Zamfara’s residents.
