Kano Government Greenlights N29 Billion for Infrastructure Development

The Kano State Government has sanctioned N29 billion for the initiation and completion of various capital projects aimed at enhancing both social and physical development within the state.

Governor Abba Yusuf issued the approvals during the Executive Council Meeting. A statement from the Director General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, detailed the projects and allocated funds.

– The approved N29 billion represents a 10 percent rescue intervention fund, to be allocated through the state and local government joint account on a 30:70 ratio.
– N239,536,859.21 has been approved for the construction of three rural roads in Ja’en Makera-Salanta Gudduba, Unguwar Baizangon Guliya, and Fagoje-Kwanar Zuwo in Gwale, Ajingi, and Kiru/Madobi LGAs.
– N7,123,750,000 has been allocated for the procurement of 500 relief transformers to be distributed across all 44 local government areas.
– The council also approved N6,400,000,000 for the 2024 Constituency Projects.
– N343,363,068.78 has been approved for constructing a 2-coat surface-dressed road from Kwanar Gammawa in Gezawa LGA.
– N819,500,000 has been allocated for purchasing 20 Toyota Hilux trucks and one Toyota bus for state ministries, departments, and agencies.
– N5,345,343,190.98 has been approved for constructing rural roads and counterpart funding under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project.
– N26,405,447.92 has been allocated for renovating and converting offices for the Chairman of the Anti-Phone Snatching Task Force Committee at Coronation Hall, Government House.
– N29,619,918.23 has been approved for repairing a failed section of asphaltic surfacing within the Tower premises at Kofar Nassarawa.
– A 30 percent counterpart fund of N354,766,992.59 has been allocated for the construction and rehabilitation of 12 rural roads across the 44 LGAs.
– N248,786,369.72 has been approved for expanding the scope of work on crash barriers, street curbs, and painting.
– N130,460,000 has been allocated for the harmonized allowances of 2,803 casual staff at the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board.
