Kano Residents Call for End to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protests
Residents of Kano Urge Protesters to Embrace Dialogue Following Tinubu’s Broadcast. Some Kano residents have called on protesters to lay down their demands and pursue dialogue after President Bola Tinubu’s recent broadcast.
In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, these residents emphasized that dialogue is the most effective way to address critical issues. They supported the president’s call for conversation as a necessary step to resolve grievances.
Taiye Hassan, an entrepreneur, praised the president’s address and urged protesters to consider the call for dialogue, stressing that resolution through discussion is essential for ending disputes. “While you have every right to protest against hunger and insecurity, the president has responded to your concerns. Give dialogue a chance,” he said.
Bala Muhammad, a businessman, described the president as a true democrat and urged protesters to accept the proposed dialogue for the nation’s benefit. He also warned against the infiltration of the protests by individuals with malicious intentions, who might seek to exploit the situation for looting and vandalism.
A’isha Ibrahim, a school teacher, also supported the president’s call for dialogue and appealed to protesters to calm down, noting that the protests had been compromised by hoodlums. She urged the president to follow through on his commitment to engage in genuine dialogue with protesters.
Nura Imam, a journalist, highlighted that dialogue is the only viable solution to any dispute. He acknowledged the economic hardships faced by Nigerians but encouraged protest leaders to retreat since their voices have been heard. Imam urged the youth to unite, be patriotic, and avoid being manipulated by individuals seeking to undermine the nation.
“Remember, Nigeria is your only home. Don’t let unpatriotic individuals use you to harm your country. Enough is enough,” he advised.
