Katsina Police Launch Major Crackdown, Arrest 120 Suspects, Recover Stolen Items

The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, leading to the arrest of 120 suspects for various offences.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the suspects include 18 arrested for armed robbery, 28 for culpable homicide, five for attempted homicide, 20 for rape and other unnatural offences, and 28 for possession of illicit drugs.

Sadiq disclosed that out of the total cases, 97 have already been charged to court, while 22 are still under investigation. He added that several victims of kidnapping and human trafficking were successfully rescued during the operations.

“Within the period under review, 47 kidnapped victims and 39 human trafficking victims were rescued and reunited with their families,” Sadiq said.

He further revealed that the police recovered a cache of arms and stolen property, including one AK-47 rifle, a locally made gun, 183 rounds of live ammunition, three vehicles, one tricycle, four motorcycles, and 201 rustled animals. Other recovered exhibits include 131 packs of illicit drugs and 100 metres of vandalised high-tension cables.

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, Sadiq urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and desist from spreading false information.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to protect and serve the community. However, we caution against misinformation, as fake news can cause harm to individuals and society,” he warned.
