“Chief Judge of Kogi State Stresses Integrity and Professionalism to Law Students

On Monday, Chief Judge Josiah Majebi of Kogi State hosted a farewell session for students of the Law School at the judiciary headquarters in Lokoja, marking the culmination of their five-week compulsory court attachment program. Joined by other judges whose courts the students were attached to, Justice Majebi delivered a poignant address emphasizing the critical role of integrity in the legal profession.

During the session, Justice Majebi underscored the importance of maintaining high ethical standards, proper professional conduct, and societal decorum. He impressed upon the students that their reputation in society would hinge on their adherence to the principles of their profession, particularly as future lawyers.

In his remarks, Justice Abdul Awulu commended the students for their enthusiasm and their eagerness to grasp the intricacies of legal proceedings. Similarly, Hon. Justice Angelina Salihu highlighted the ethical challenges lawyers face daily and stressed the significance of factual accuracy and ethical behavior in court proceedings.

Justice Estu Umar further elaborated on the pivotal role of character in the legal profession, emphasizing the virtues of integrity and diligence as foundational to a successful legal career. His words resonated with the students, who eagerly absorbed these insights as they prepare to enter the legal profession.

The Chief Registrar of the Court, Jubril Ibrahim, also addressed the gathering, acknowledging the valuable experience and knowledge imparted by the judges during the attachment program. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the students for the judges’ mentorship and affirmed the students’ commitment to applying their newfound skills in their future legal practice upon graduation from Law School.

The students, hailing from various campuses nationwide including Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Yola, gathered in Lokoja for this significant event.
