The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion along Osborne Road in Ikoyi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, to facilitate the completion of critical drainage infrastructure.

According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the diversion will be in place from 10 p.m. on Friday, August 15, to midnight on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The construction work involves linking new drainage channels on Modupe Alakija Crescent to the underground drainage system beneath Osborne Road’s median. A cross culvert will be constructed, requiring partial excavation near Foreshore Towers.

To manage traffic during the works, a counterflow system will be implemented over a 100-metre stretch between Modupe Alakija Crescent and the Alfred Rewane Road junction.

Alternative routes:

  • Motorists from Osborne Road to Alfred Rewane Road should use Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue to connect to Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road.

  • Those traveling in the opposite direction can use the same routes in reverse.

Osiyemi assured that the road will be fully reopened on Monday, August 18, and confirmed that LASTMA officers will be deployed to ease traffic and minimize disruption.
