Lagos State Police Command has taken a 24-year-old woman, Halimat Jubril, into custody after officers allegedly discovered a fabricated Beretta pistol in her possession along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The arrest occurred during a routine patrol by a Police Tactical Team operating along the ECOWAS corridor in Badagry. Police sources stated that Halimat was stopped for questioning, but failed to provide a credible explanation for carrying the weapon.

While she denied any involvement in armed robbery, investigators noted she could not justify why she was traveling with the locally made firearm. Authorities suspect she may be connected to other individuals who are still at large.

Halimat has been arraigned on charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm, offences under Lagos State law that carry severe penalties upon conviction.

The case is currently before the Ogba Magistrate Court and has been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice as investigations continue.
