Lagos State Govt Begins Maintenance Work on Ogudu-Ifako Bridge
The Lagos State Government has revealed that the second phase of maintenance work on the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge in Kosofe LGA will commence on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and continue until October 1, 2025.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated the rehabilitation will focus on the bridge’s expansion joints on the inbound lane to Lagos Island. To minimize traffic disruption, repairs will be carried out in stages with diversion plans already mapped out.
Key diversion routes include:
-
Traffic from Lagos-Ibadan Expressway/Toll Gate heading to Oshodi or Victoria Island will be diverted to one lane before the construction zone.
-
Motorists to Oshodi can use the Ojota Slip Road to Ikorodu Road via Anthony by Taxi Park.
-
Those heading to Victoria Island may use Ikorodu Road via Town Planning Way, connecting Gbagada and the Third Mainland Bridge.
-
Alternative routes include Ikorodu Road to Funsho Williams Avenue to Eko Bridge or via Maryland to Funsho Williams Avenue and Outer Marina.
-
Ikeja-bound drivers are advised to route through Anthony by Taxi Park toward Oshodi.
Traffic officers will be deployed to manage congestion, and the public is urged to cooperate with officials during the repair period.
