The Lagos State Government has announced plans to close both private and commercial terminals and jetties from October 3 to 5, in preparation for the E1 Championship — the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing competition.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) stated that the temporary closures are part of necessary safety and security measures to ensure the smooth hosting of the international event.

As per the schedule, there will be a partial closure of waterways from Falomo Bridge to Oriental Hotel on Thursday, October 3, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. This will be followed by a full closure of the stretch between Oriental Hotel and Mekwen Bridge during the same hours.

LASWA emphasized that these restrictions are designed to protect public safety on the waterways and adjacent roads, while also highlighting Lagos’s ambition to become a leading global destination for sports tourism.
