In an operation led by Osun NDLEA Commander Nnamdi W. Chidi, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Kareem Alamu, aged 40, and his alleged accomplice, Adeyemi Saheed, aged 33. The arrests were made separately on Monday, May 13, 2024, for possession of substances suspected to be narcotics.

According to a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Charles Odigie and obtained by NIGERIA NEWS 24/7 on Wednesday, Alamu was intercepted during a motorized patrol along Ode-Omu/Osogbo Road. A search of his vehicle, a commercial ash-colored Toyota Avensis Wagon with registration number SMK 131 CX, led to the discovery of 9 block-like wraps of cannabis sativa weighing 4.7kg. Additionally, another consignment containing 26.5gms of cannabis sativa and 6.5gms of cocaine was found during the search.

Adeyemi Saheed, who arrived in an unregistered gold-colored Toyota Corolla to collect the consignment, was also arrested. A search of his vehicle yielded 1.5gms of cocaine. Chidi disclosed that Saheed is a major distributor of crack cocaine in the state and will be arraigned in court soon.
