Nigerian Army troops Arrests 183 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Warri Raid

The Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade and Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force (South-South), Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), have arrested 183 suspected internet fraudsters during a coordinated raid in Warri, Delta State.

Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 63 Brigade, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on July 19, 2025. He said the operation followed intelligence reports about ongoing cybercrime activities in the area.

All 183 suspects, males between the ages of 16 and 29, were apprehended in several residential apartments allegedly used as training hubs for internet fraud. Security forces also seized a large cache of equipment, including 274 laptops, 87 mobile phones, 9 laptop chargers, a table phone, and 2 WiFi devices.

The Army said preliminary investigations are underway, and further actions will follow based on findings. Authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to tackling cybercrime and ensuring safety and security across the region.

“The Nigerian Army will continue to act decisively against cybercrime and other criminal activities that threaten peace and national security,” the statement added.
