One Killed in Anambra Road Accident.

One person was killed in an accident on Saturday along the Nteje-Awka-Onitsha Expressway, opposite the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Unit Command in Anambra State.

Eyewitnesses reported that Chinweuba Chidiebere, driving a Toyota Camry with the number plate ABJ125JV, and an unidentified driver of a Ford Explorer with the number plate ZBL626RL, were involved in the collision. The Camry reportedly lost control, crossed into the lane of the Ford Explorer, and crashed.

Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer for FRSC in Anambra State, confirmed the incident. She stated that three male adults were involved in the crash, with one male adult dying and two others escaping unhurt.

Onabe detailed, “A fatal road traffic crash was recorded on July 20, 2024, opposite the FRSC Command Nteje on the Nteje-Awka-Onitsha Expressway. The accident involved a private Toyota Camry driven by Chiweuba Chidiebere and a private Ford Explorer driven by an unidentified person. The probable cause of the crash was attributed to a loss of control.”

The FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje transported the victim to Chira Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body was then taken to New Jerusalem Mortuary Nteje. The team managed traffic and cleared the obstruction caused by the accident.

The Sector Commander for Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to stay vigilant and focused while driving, emphasizing that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
