The leadership of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA), the apex socio-cultural youth organization representing the 12 LGAs of Orlu Senatorial District, has described Senator Osita Izunaso’s first year in office as below expectations.

In an open letter responding to Senator Izunaso’s claims during a recent town hall meeting, the National President of OYA, Emejuru Thaddeus, acknowledged the Senator’s effort in advocating for the creation of Orlu State through a motion in the National Assembly. However, Thaddeus reminded the Senator that many significant aspects of his legislative duties remain unaddressed.

Emejuru highlighted that within his first year, Senator Izunaso has not yet presented the severe erosion problem affecting the zone, particularly in Ideato-Umuchima, which has left many people homeless. The president emphasized that failing to bring this issue before the National Assembly is a major discredit to the Senator.

The group also criticized the Senator’s empowerment schemes as insufficient, especially for the youth.

“There have been no well-planned medical outreach programs for the sick in our Senatorial Zone, no visible scholarship schemes, and many other unfulfilled promises,” Emejuru said.

The letter concluded with a call for Senator Izunaso to improve his performance and work towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Orlu Zone, noting that his actions in the remaining years of his term will be closely monitored for significant improvements.
