Otti Retires BCA DG and Appoints Nwaubani
Francis Obinna Nwaubani has been appointed as the new acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA) by Governor Alex Otti. He succeeds Mrs. Esther Agu Anyanwu, who has been directed to proceed on compulsory retirement.
Mrs. Anyanwu, who served as acting DG after taking over from former DG Hyacinth Okoli, was previously the Director of Finance (DF). Her compulsory retirement was confirmed by a circular from the Head of Service in Abia State, dated July 30, 2024.
The circular, signed by Kalu Boniface for the Head of Service, stated: “I am directed to refer to the above subject and convey the directive of His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State, for you to proceed on compulsory retirement effective July 31, 2024.”
According to the directive, the outgoing acting DG is to hand over responsibilities to Francis Obinna Nwaubani. The circular noted that Nwaubani, who hails from the Department of News and Current Affairs, was selected based on his top performance in a recent interview for the position.
Nwaubani, in a statement to journalists, expressed his gratitude for the appointment: “I am humbled. Thank you for your good wishes and support. I seek your continued prayers as we face the challenges ahead.”
Prior to this change, BCA, which operates radio and television stations, had experienced transmission issues for about two weeks.
