The Police Command in Anambra State has arrested 200 suspected criminals and made significant recoveries in the past two months, according to Commissioner Mr. Nnaghe Itam. He reported that the operatives recovered approximately 1,644 rounds of ammunition during this period. Those arrested included suspected kidnappers, cultists, car snatchers, and petty thieves.

Mr. Itam mentioned implementing operational strategies to ensure that a response team arrives at a crime scene within 10 minutes of a report. He expressed gratitude for the support from Governor Chukwuma Soludo, sister security agencies such as the State Security Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as well as local vigilante groups.

He urged residents of Anambra to provide information that could aid in combating crime and mentioned his ongoing engagement with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious bodies, and community leaders. He also called on traditional rulers to redefine cultural practices that infringe on fundamental human rights to prevent social clashes.

Mr. Itam warned that land grabbing, voodoo practices, cultism, violence, or abuse of personal freedom would not be tolerated in the state. He advised those contemplating actions that threaten the peace to reconsider, as the police command would firmly resist any illegitimate activities.
