Police Arrest Couple for Attempting to Sell Their Son

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a couple attempting to sell their two-year-old son to fund their travel to Canada.

The couple, aged 22 and 28, were arrested on Tuesday while trying to sell the boy. The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.

According to Hundeyin, the Isolo Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received information that the couple went to Isolo General Hospital around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday and expressed their intention to sell their son.

“Following the information, operatives from the division swiftly moved to the hospital. The baby, aged two, has been rescued. Upon interrogation, the couple confessed that they decided to sell the two-year-old to fund the man’s travel to Canada for better opportunities. However, the investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin stated.
