Sit-at-Home: Tension As NSCDC Deploys Personnel in Anambra
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has deployed personnel across the state to protect critical national and state assets, aiming to prevent any breakdown of law and order. Anambra State Commandant of the NSCDC, Maku Olatunde, announced this proactive measure in Awka on Monday while overseeing the deployment for renewed operations. These operations aim to support economic and commercial activities, particularly to counteract the impact of the Monday sit-at-home order.
Olatunde explained that the deployment focuses on safeguarding banks, financial institutions, parks, schools, government offices, and other vulnerable points to maintain public trust and respond swiftly to any security breaches. He stated, “The exercise aims to boost economic activities and prevent miscreants, criminals, vandals, and hooligans from attacking lawful residents, particularly on Mondays.”
The NSCDC Commandant emphasized the importance of professionalism and courtesy among personnel, urging them to follow established rules of engagement and operational procedures. “This deployment ensures the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in Anambra State, including banks, markets, parks, recreational centers, schools, government offices, and other strategic locations. Personnel must remain vigilant, professional, courteous, and responsive to public needs,” he added.
Olatunde reassured law-abiding residents that they could continue their daily activities without fear or intimidation, highlighting the synergy between the NSCDC and other security agencies. He also warned potential troublemakers to rethink their actions, stating that anyone caught attempting to destabilize the peace in the state would face severe consequences.
