Two Okada Riders Killed in Ondo
Two commercial motorcyclists were killed in separate incidents in the Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
One of the victims, Dada Jatto from Iyani Akoko, had been missing for three days before his body was found beside the road on Tuesday. A local source reported that his body had multiple machete wounds, and his damaged mobile phone was found nearby, but his motorbike was missing.
“He was a popular okada rider in the town,” the source said. “His mutilated body was discovered near Arigidi along Oke Agbe road.”
In a second incident, another motorcyclist was lured to a location between Ikare and Arigidi Akoko. According to a resident named Mustafa, the assailant used a sledgehammer to smash the victim’s head. Although the victim was rescued and taken to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries after describing his attacker, who was later arrested with the stolen motorcycle at Akunu Akoko.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident in Iyani Akoko and stated that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators. “I can only confirm the one that happened in Iyani Akoko. Efforts are on to arrest the perpetrators, and the investigation has commenced,” she said.
