33 Huts Burnt in Adamawa Communal Clash — Police Confirm
The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that 33 huts and three houses were destroyed following a communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
The violence erupted between the Chobo and Bachama communities over a long-standing land dispute, escalating into widespread destruction and prompting a heavy police response.
In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said calm has been restored to the area, though the physical damage remains evident.
“A total of 33 round huts and three flat houses were discovered burnt,” Nguroje said.
To prevent further unrest, additional personnel from the Mobile Police Force, Operation Farauta, and the Counter Terrorism Unit have been deployed to the area.
Nguroje further noted that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for inciting the violence.
The police have urged residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with authorities as efforts continue to ensure lasting stability in the region.
