The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved a 9-day event, termed FCT Week, for the inauguration of completed projects in the FCT.
Wike revealed this on Friday during the final inspection of several ongoing projects scheduled for commissioning.
FCT Week will commence on May 27th with the inauguration of the commercial operation of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit.
Other projects to be inaugurated by the President during FCT Week, inspected by the FCT Minister, include the Vice President’s official residence, the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from the Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 with four interchanges, as well as the B6 and B12 Circle Road.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the projects’ completion and praised the contractors for adhering to their schedule.
He emphasized that the FCT Administration has fulfilled its commitment by providing adequate project funding and assured that the FCT is ready for the inaugurations.
Wike stated, “With the approval of Mr. President, we believe that from the 27th of this month, we shall start inaugurating the various projects.
“Specifically on the 27th, we anticipate the President will launch the commercial operation of the Abuja Metro line. We plan to conduct the final inspection on Monday. From what we have seen, I think we are good to go.”
