Benue Assembly Rejects Two Commissioner Nominees, Confirms Six Others

The Benue State House of Assembly has rejected two commissioner nominees presented by Governor Hyacinth Alia after they failed to adequately address petitions against them during their screening.

Dr. Yangien Ornguga and Mr. James Dwen were turned down, with lawmakers deeming their responses unsatisfactory. The House has since directed the governor to submit replacement nominees for approval.

Meanwhile, six other nominees successfully passed the screening and were confirmed by the Assembly. They are Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Hon. Denis Iyaighgba, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.

Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Tersoo Zamber, noted the thoroughness of the screening process. Speaker Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh praised the Assembly members for conducting a transparent exercise and urged the confirmed commissioners to serve with integrity and dedication to the people of Benue.
