Breaking: Kano Governor Declares 24-Hour Curfew
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has imposed a 24-hour curfew following violent protests over economic hardship. The decision, announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, came after an Emergency State Security Council meeting aimed at addressing the increasing violence and disruptions during civil demonstrations.
The curfew is intended to protect lives and safeguard public and private property. Tofa stated that the measure was unanimously agreed upon during the emergency meeting to restore order and ensure community safety.
“The imposition of this curfew is a necessary measure to restore order and ensure the safety of our communities. It is paramount that we protect our citizens from further harm and preserve the sanctity of our state’s institutions and businesses,” he said.
Governor Yusuf urged citizens to stay vigilant and united during these challenging times, emphasizing that the actions of a few should not divide the community. He called on everyone to work together to strengthen and build a more resilient Kano State.
The statement also noted that all security agencies in the state have been directed to enforce the curfew strictly. Citizens are encouraged to comply for their safety and the well-being of all.
This development follows reports of hoodlums looting the newly built Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park in Kano State, with photos and videos showing the building set on fire and valuable equipment, including computers, furniture, and electronics, being stolen.
