COAS Visits Kaduna Military Hospital, Pledges Better Care for Wounded Troops
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday visited soldiers wounded in action at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to their full recovery and welfare.
According to a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the visit was part of General Shaibu’s maiden operational tour of the Joint Task Force, North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
During the visit, the Army Chief commended the injured personnel for their bravery and sacrifice in defending the nation. He assured them of the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to providing comprehensive medical treatment, support services, and rehabilitation. Recalling his own experience of being treated at the same facility after being wounded in action, Shaibu noted that it had given him a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by soldiers. He also expressed confidence in the hospital’s competence and pledged ongoing improvements in medical care.
The COAS urged the wounded troops to adhere strictly to treatment plans prescribed by medical experts, emphasizing that the welfare of soldiers and their families remains a top priority under his leadership. He also praised the Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, along with officers, soldiers, and civilian staff, for their professionalism and dedication.
During the visit, General Shaibu inspected ongoing upgrades at the hospital. He later proceeded to Headquarters Sub-Sector 4 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA along the Kaduna–Abuja highway, where he assessed troop readiness, interacted with personnel, and received briefings on security operations in the area.
