Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, clarified that the recent Supreme Court ruling granting financial autonomy to local governments does not impact Delta State. He emphasized that the state government maintains a hands-off policy regarding local government funds.

Speaking after voting at Ward 6, Unit 33, during the ongoing local government elections in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, Oborevwori assured the public that Delta State adheres to the Supreme Court’s decision without affecting current practices. He highlighted that local government funds, amounting to nearly N15 billion, remain untouched.

“As a former speaker advocating financial autonomy for the legislature and judiciary, I support financial autonomy,” Oborevwori affirmed. He expressed confidence in a peaceful election and anticipated victories for People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates.
