Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).

In the petition, which he personally signed and addressed to the ICPC Chairman, Adeyanju called for a probe into how Ibas managed the N283.3 billion he allegedly received during his six-month tenure, claiming there is little to show for the massive allocation.

“Earlier today, we petitioned the ICPC to investigate former Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.), over the N283.3 billion he received in six months, with virtually nothing to show for it,” Adeyanju stated.

He further alleged that apart from a superficial renovation of the State House of Assembly complex, no major projects were executed, no financial reports were made public, and there was a complete lack of transparency.

“This is a clear case that demands urgent investigation and accountability. The people of Rivers State deserve to know how their money was spent,” he added.

Ibas served as Sole Administrator during the six-month suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
