FG Clarifies No Official Notice from UAE on Reported Visa Policy Changes
The Federal Government of Nigeria has clarified that it has not received any official communication from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding reports of a revised visa policy that could affect Nigerian citizens. This statement follows growing speculation over alleged changes to the issuance of transit and entry visas for Nigerians traveling to or through the UAE.
Addressing the media, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that, as of now, no formal notification has been received through diplomatic channels. As such, the government considers the circulating reports unverified and cautioned against public panic or reliance on unofficial sources.
The spokesperson emphasized that Nigeria maintains active diplomatic engagement with the UAE and remains committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of its citizens abroad. He assured the public that any confirmed developments related to visa regulations would be communicated transparently and in a timely manner.
Highlighting the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two nations, the ministry referenced previous collaborative efforts and expressed confidence in resolving any potential misunderstandings through respectful and constructive dialogue.
The uncertainty has reignited public discourse around travel restrictions and visa diplomacy, especially given the history of past diplomatic tensions between Nigeria and the UAE. Nigerian travelers, students, and business communities with ties to the Gulf nation have voiced concern over the ambiguity surrounding visa access.
Despite the concerns, the Federal Government remains optimistic that the strong diplomatic ties and mutual interests shared by both countries will guide a positive resolution.
