Governor Adeleke Appoints Local Puff-Puff Vendor as Osun Government House Chef
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Oluwatosin Adejumo, a local puff-puff vendor, as a chef at the Government House in Osogbo, fulfilling a promise made during a recent labour rally.
The governor made the announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, describing Adejumo as the “puff-puff seller turned Government House chef.”
Adejumo, who holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and has undergone professional catering training, first came to Adeleke’s attention at a rally organized by labour unions in Osogbo. During the event, organised labour pledged support for the governor’s administration and endorsed his bid for a second term.
“A few days ago, I met Ms. Oluwatosin Adejumo during the rally where organised labour, in collaboration with other unions, endorsed the work we are doing and declared support for my re-election,” the governor stated.
“Today, I fulfilled that promise by officially presenting her appointment letter as one of our Government House chefs. Beyond this employment, I have also granted her a scholarship up to the Master’s level, should she decide to further her education.”
Governor Adeleke added that Adejumo’s story reflects his administration’s commitment to recognizing talent and rewarding hard work. “Her story is a powerful reminder that hard work and dedication never go unnoticed. My administration remains committed to identifying, recognising, and uplifting excellence wherever we find it.”
A video posted on the governor’s page captured the moment he purchased Adejumo’s entire tray of puff-puff for ₦50,000 during the rally. In the same clip, Adeleke was seen speaking with Adejumo about her catering background before instructing aides to take down her details — a conversation that led to her new appointment.
