The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Counter Terrorism Centre to combat counterfeit drugs.

The announcement was made on Friday by NAFDAC’s Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye. The National Counter Terrorism Centre, which operates under the Office of the National Security Adviser, will collaborate with NAFDAC as part of the National Action Plan to prevent the misuse of medicines for criminal activities such as terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violent extremism.

Professor Adeyeye emphasized that the MoU is crucial for reducing fatalities among youth and managing potential chemical threats that could harm public health. She also highlighted that the agreement aims to prevent the use of hazardous chemicals by non-state actors in the development of weapons of mass destruction.
