NEMA receives Over 103 Nigerians deported from Turkey

A group of 103 Nigerians who were deported from the Republic of Turkey back to Nigeria have been welcomed by the National Emergency Management Agency and various other organizations.

The deportees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Friday at 7pm via the pilgrims wing of the airport and were greeted by Federal Government officials headed by NEMA.

The deportees were transported from Turkey to Nigeria on a Southwind Airlines flight, TCGRB. In her address to the returnees, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Director General of NEMA, advised them to embrace their situation positively and abide by the law.

Alhaji Bashir Garga, representing the DG NEMA, warmly welcomed the returnees and ensured they were treated with respect to alleviate their hardships.

He also conveyed the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing their challenges and announced financial aid to help them reach their destinations.

Following a thorough screening process conducted by Port Health Authority officials, individuals were then profiled by NEMA and NCFRMI.

Subsequently, they received clearance from NIS and were provided with transportation to facilitate their journey to their respective destinations.

Additional participants in the reception of the deportees included representatives from various organizations such as the Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrant and Internally Displaced Persons, and the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.

Also present were members from organizations including the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Additionally, individuals from the Port Health Authority and the National Intelligence Agency were part of the reception team.
