Nigeria Needs a True Commander-in-Chief to End Boko Haram Insurgency – Aisha Yesufu
Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has stated that the fight against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups will only be won when Nigeria has a decisive and effective Commander-in-Chief.
Yesufu made the comment in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reacting to a viral video showing Nigerian Army surveillance footage capturing Boko Haram fighters moving in on a military base in Borno State—without any warning being issued to the soldiers on ground.
“The day Nigeria gets a Commander-in-Chief, the war against Boko Haram and the other terrorists will be properly tackled! Until then, the terrorists will continue to mock us. It is well,” Yesufu wrote.
The footage reportedly shows a Boko Haram incursion into a military base, which, according to reports, was detected in real time by Army surveillance—but no action was taken to alert troops.
Yesufu’s statement underscores growing public frustration over persistent insecurity in the country and perceived failures in military leadership and accountability.
