The Federal Government has guaranteed that all ongoing road projects whether inherited from the previous administration or newly awarded will continue without abandonment.

Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and National Planning, provided this assurance during a weekend session with the Senate Committee on Appropriations in Abuja. The session, led by Senator Solomon Adeola (APC Ogun West), focused on the N6.2 trillion supplementary appropriation approved by the National Assembly for the 2024 budget at the request of President Bola Tinubu.

Addressing concerns from committee members about the status of various road projects and infrastructure in their constituencies, Bagudu emphasized that no projects have been abandoned. He reassured that the Federal Government remains committed to all road projects and will continue to allocate funds as available, without prioritizing new projects over existing ones.

While Bagudu did not provide detailed figures on the supplementary approval, he offered a broad overview of the N3.2 trillion allocated to the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Projects and the N3 trillion increase in the budget’s recurrent component. He acknowledged past under-investment in infrastructure and praised President Tinubu for his commitment to addressing the deficit with significant funding for projects such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, the Sokoto-Badagry highway, and the Trans-Sahara highway.
