NiMet Forecasts Thunderstorms and Moderate Rainfall Across Nigeria on July 9

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various regions of Nigeria on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

In its daily weather outlook released on Tuesday, NiMet forecasted that northern states such as Taraba, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Bauchi will experience morning thunderstorms with light to moderate rain, while other parts of the region will have sunny intervals with cloud patches.

By afternoon and evening, the northern states of Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Gombe are expected to see thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall.

In the central region, residents should expect sunny intervals with cloud patches in the morning, transitioning to light to moderate rainfall across most areas later in the day.

Southern states including Ogun, Edo, Osun, Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Bayelsa, Lagos, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers will start the day under cloudy skies with light rain, with moderate rainfall expected to continue through the afternoon and evening.

NiMet has urged the public to stay vigilant for possible flash flooding and localized disruptions due to thunderstorms and persistent rainfall.
