NiMet Forecasts Thundery and Rainy Weather Across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thundery and rainy weather across various parts of Nigeria between Monday and Wednesday.

Northern Region:

• Early mornings will see thunderstorms (with or without rain) in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna.

• Afternoons and evenings will bring thunderstorms with rain to Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.

• Sunny skies with cloud patches are expected elsewhere.

Central Region:

• Morning thunderstorms with rain are forecast over Niger, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

• Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger States.

• Generally cloudy skies with some rain chances.

Southern Region:

• Cloudy conditions with morning light rains in Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

• Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with light rain across Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

• Light rains expected throughout the region on Wednesday.

Safety Advisories:

• Strong winds may precede thunderstorms; residents should secure loose objects.

• Avoid driving during heavy rain and disconnect electrical appliances to prevent damage.

• Stay clear of tall trees to avoid falling branches.

• Airline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for operational safety.
